VERDICT FOR £750.
AGAINST A MOTORIST. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, tVday, the action brought by Louisa Mary Aitcheson against Jas. Martin Samson, auctioneer, for recovery of £IOOO damages for injuries received in a motor car accident on April 8, was concluded. The jury returned a verdict for plaintiff on the ground of negligence aiid want of ordinary skill and care at the time of the accident, and assessed damages at £750. Mr. Adams, counsel for defendant, gave notice that he would move to set aside the verdict, and ask for judgment for defendant. •His Honour, Mr. Justice Williams, said further consideration would be reserved. It was just the same as if counsel asked for a non-suit. Counsel had 14 days in which to move. Mr. Adams said he would move for a new trial on the grounds that the verdict was against the weight of evidence and the damages excessive.
