BREACH OF LICENSING ACT. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Thursday. At Paeroa, Edward M'Mahon, was charged with having unlawfully sold liquor in the no-license district of Ohinemuri. It was shown that defendant received large quantities of ihjuor. The defence was that M'Mahon had twenty-five to thirty boarders ; all cap-j able of drinking a fair quantity of; beer. Each man had a locker, and each man kept his own key, but they were accustomed to lend beer to friends 88 supplies ran out. It was alleged that all the benefit M'Mahon got for the use of the room was the sale of ,empty bottles and sixpence a week from each, man using a locker.
