WAITARA NEWS.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Tho Catholic social on Thursday last Club was to 'lse held last evening. The Minister of Public Works has advised the member for the district that for the present no more money was available for the Tongaportu-Oiiura road, and that contracts to the value of about £l6O were let on the Kiwi road. This is not vorv encouraging to settlers, nnd it will be their duty and the duty of the townspeople to make strong representations to the Minister, or the trade from these places will drift elsewhere. North Taranaki Dairy Company are now making over ten boxes of butter every other day. So soon as a manager can be obtained for the Waipapa creamery, running will be taken up daifo. Representatives of the National Dairy Association visit this district to-morrow to interview factory directors. The interest in to-morrow's match against Wellington is very keen. Waitara and the district will be well represented at the fixture, as the 1 o'clock train will suit so admirably. To-day the Stipendiary Magistrate 'holds his usual fortnightly reception. With the ereat number of natives in the place attending the Land Court, ib fa proposed to plav a football match on the Oamp Reserve* to-day, between the Visitors and local natives. A dance takes place in the evening.
