Fred Thomas, a passenger aboard the steamer Buckman, off Etoreka, for San Francisco, shot and killed Captain Wood. Meanwhile' an accomplice, who, endeavored to seize the engine-room, was overpowered and manacled. Thomas seized a lifebelt, and jumped overboard. He was not captured.
