MINING AT WAIHI.

A NEW AND VALUABLE LODE STRUCK. t By Telegraph.—Fress Association. 'Waihi, Last Night. The Edward lode, which , was recently intersected on the (bottom line oi the Waihi mine, has been pierced for a distance of 15 feet. The ore has the same appearance us that met with on the higher level, and promises to 'be of substantial size at a point nearly overhead of the present crosscut. This lode averaged 75 feet wide, and is worth £loo' per ton, thus giving better prospects. The. Martha lode, westward on the same level, shows a decided improvement. On the south wall of the Empire lode, where extensive development works are taking place in connection with the opening up for stoping operations, it has been found that the width of the ore is much larger than what was expected, judging by the drifts when first put through. The Royal lode going west is also strong in body of a stone of payable grade. There is as yet no sign of the Royal lode, going east, ibeing picked: up in the recently commenced crosscuts.
