Mr. Roosevelt, at the conference at Oyster Bay, resented the Republicans rejeeting his candidature for the Chairmanship of the New York Convention. Not wishing to cause a rupture wit'h the jTaft administration, he will not attend the State Convention, participate in the State campaign, accept the nomination of the Governorship, nor enter the Senate. ( -It is understood Mr. Roosevelt has deferred; fiirther effort until the Presidential campaign. If the Party then rejects his policies, Mr. Roosevelt will contest the' Presidency.
