AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY

A committee meeting of the Taranaki Agricultural Society was held last evenink. About twenty members attended. Mr. W. Ambury (president) occupied the cihair. GROUNDS COMMITTEE. The Grounds Committee recommended that for the next winter show t-noeav-ors be made to again obtain the use of Kawau Street, and to have, same roofed in temporarily. It was also decided tnat the Grounds Committee's view of St. Germain's Square be obtained before deciding on any course relative to the leasing of the property. The committee liad no report to make re purchase of new show grounds. The Grounds Committee, at h. meeting held at St. Germain's Square, decided that it be a recommendation to the committee that St. German's Square be subdivided into eight sections of equal area, for the purpose of leasing same. It was resolved that the conditions of leases for St. Germain's Square i=ections be similar to those issued by the SchooJ' Commissioners. It was resolved tliat the upsets 'or Gill Street sections be £l2 10s, ami for Molesworth Street £lO, and that all sections, be offered by auction ai an early date. FINANCE COMMITTEE. ' The Finance Committee mad© recommendations whereby fresh arrangements were entered into in respect of the secretary's appointment. It was decided that a club room be opened at the secretary's office, and that the Society provide writing materials and periodicals bearing on agriculture for the use of members; also that the club room be open for the use. of members from 11 a.m. to 5 p.im. on Saturdays only. GENERAL. Resolved that the question of members' privileges be discussed at e»o »cxt meeting. Mir. J. S. Connett offered a prize of £2 2s for the member securing the largest number of financial members between now and the Spring Show, the Society donating a second prize of One guinea. Resolved that Mr. Connett be thanked for his generous offer. Mr. "VV. A. Woods gave notice of motion that young men under 20 years of age be admitted as members of the Society for the sum of ss. One new member was elected. It was decided that the publican's booth at the Spring Show be tendared for. Judges for all sections at the forthcoming show were appointed . The customary vote of thanks to the chair concluded the business of the meeting.
