A conference between the Ship- | building Employers' Federation and twenty unions at Carlsbad discussed wages differences. The Newport dockers>, in claiming a tonnage rate, refused to load Messrs. Houlders' steamer Beacon Grange, despite an award in-|avor of a day rate. The Shipping Federation imported free laborers, some of whom were stoned. Three arrests were made.
INTERNATIONAL SYMPATHY. Received August 18, 8.55 p.m. . London, August 18. The Parliamentary Committee of the Trades Union Congressi adopted a resolution of sympathy with German employees, and calling upon British trade unionists to give every assistance, financial and otherwise. THE (BERTH TRAMWAYS. •■-..Received August 18, 11.10 a.m. Perth, Last Night. A few trams, were run to-day. There was considerable rowdyism, the police with difficulty keeping the roadway clear. Three arrests were made.
