WAITARA WEST ROAD BOARD

At the monthly meeting of the ato've hoard there were present: Messrs J. Ccmnett (chairman), French, Hall, Surrey and Turnbull. Correspondence was read from Mr. W. T. Jennings, re metal on hill -'leading to Waitara bridge; from Auditor-General,' returning balance-sheet; from Mr. F. W. Atkinson, re culvert at his residence; and ■from 'Mr. F.'Hoskin, requesting an answer ro payment of damages for trespass. The chairman that Mr. Hall arid himself had interviewed Mr. Mnnro, and had agreed, subject to approval by the Board, for, Mr. Munro to relieve the Board of all responsibility with regard to unfehced gravel pits on his property in consideration of a payment of £1 8s; also to pay iy 2 d a yard for surface damage in carting metal from Crowe's pit across his paddock, the Board to put up a gate in the -division fence. Mr. Munro also requested permission to lower the culvert across the ißichmorid road to drain a swamp.—'lt was resolved that the above arrangement be confirmed and that permission he given to lower the culvert.

Mr. Osmandy waited on the Board and requested that the hill on Els-ham road be metalled. As the road is in debt, it was considered inadvisable, to do this, and Mr. Ormandy will consult those* interested as to the expediency of raising a loan.

The chairman will interview Messrs F. Atkinson and E. 'lToskin re"'culvert and damages for trespass. It was decided .that the same-amounts ■as last year be allocated to district roads, and that the following grants from the surplus be made:—Te Arai road £SO, Waitara. £lO, Cross .£lO, Richmond- £lO, Wortley £lO, Muntahi West £lO, and Karaka £7.

The timber required for repairs to ■bridges, and posts for fencing filling on Oross road were authorised to be. procured, also pipes for culverts on Te Arei and -Richmond roads Accounts amounting to £lO4 were passed for payment, and the Board rose.
