ALEXANDER ALLEN'S DEATH. J
By Telegraph.—Press Association. * y Wellington, Wednesday. The inquest on Alexander Allen, an old soldier who died suddenly last week, was resumed to-day. The police offered no further evidence, but Dr. Fyffe wh<j made a post-mortem examination, fori warded a memo, that in his opinion the cyst on the brain was the result of the heavy fall which put Allen into the hospital with a fractured skull Inst December, and not the result of a blow, as sunposed. A verdict was rt turned that death was due to injuries sustained through falling against a mantel-piece last \ cek, causing rupture of an olid cyst, hemorrhage of the brain resulting. FARM HAND'S TRAGIC END. ' Greymouth, Wednesday. George Grey, employed by Jfi. J. Smith as gardener and general farm hand, while out hunting dogs which worried his owner's sheep, fell over a limestone cliff, a log rolling over him' and killing him, evidently instantaneously. The body was found early thia morning.
LOST OVERBOARD. ' '■ Wellington, Wednesday. A steerage passenger on the Warri* moo named J. Brotchie, who was on his way here from Scotland, jumped overboard yesterday when the vessel was on the voyage from Sydney. He had complained of feeling ill. The boat was stopped and search was made for an hour, but no trace was found.' He lefti aj wallet containing over £2O on the deck. " ■ .
