The German steamer Elsa, in a fog thdrty-two miles west of Tarifa, Spain, collided with and sank the Spanish steamer Martoe.
Thirty-two passengers and seven of the crew were drowned. The Elsa has arrived at Gibraltar, badly damaged.

Received' August »8, 12.20 a.m. London, August 17. The steamer Marios sank in two minutes. Forty-five were drowned, including a mother and three children travelling in the saloon.
The third-class passengers were principally composed of fishermen, with their wives and children.
