AMERICAN POLITICS.

■A BiEBUFP FOR' ROOSEVELT. By Cable..—Press Association.—Copyright Received August 17, 8.55 p.m. New York, August 17.

The Republican Committee has nominated Vice-President Sherman, rejecting Mr. (Roosevelt, as temporary chairman of the State Convention, despite Mr. Taft's disapproval of tie opposition to Mr. Roosevelt.

The fight will probably be continued at the Convention at Saratogo on September 27.

The committee's action proves that it will not allow Mr. (Roosevelt to outline Republican State policies.
