A deputation of employees of the Tramway Company told the Federal At-torney-Gene ~* that their efforts to form a union had been frustrated by the officers of the company.
Mr. Hughes replied that if the company did not abstain from that attitude, and the law was insufficient to deal with the matter, the law would be amended. AN APPLICATION REFUSED. Received August 17, 9.50 p.m. London, August 17. ;ihe arbitrator in the South Wales, Monmouthshire, coal conciliation case, refused the men's application for an increase 0f22 2 per cent, in wages.
PERTH TRAMWAY STRIKE.
Perth, August 17.
The tramway strike is petering out. The union has given the men individual lights to return to work if they choose. Many are seeking employment elsewhere. ißeceived August 17, 11.5 p.m.
