The local Herald has received auviee from London that Mr. Lysnar, Mayor of Gisborne, has filially concluded arrangements . through Birch, Cluisp and *Jo., for a loan to the borough of Gisborne of £175,000, interest at 4 per cent., ..he loan to be issued at par; WANGANUI MEAT FREEZING COMPANY. Wanganui, Tuesday. Wanganui Meat Freezing Company made a net profit for tiu. jitu- timing July 31 of £1i2,721. After icplacing last year's deficit of £0824, »aiu of £6897 remains to be dealt with, and the directors recommend a. immehu of 5 per cent, and to carry forward the balance. WAIHI AND THE SILTING COM- > MISSION. Waihi, Tuesday. The Borough Council, .ipicial meeting in connection \vith the report of the Silting Commission, expressed considerable dissatisfaction with some of the recommendations, alleging that the minds of the Commissioners had been influenced against the borough from the beginning. Protests were made in connection with the allocation of the gold, duty between t'he county and borough, interference with the main roati, and want of representation on the new body. Objection was als(j made to the unwarranted remarks on Waihi borough affairs. It was resolved to hold a public meeting, and delegates were appointed to proceed to Wellington to interview the Premier and Ministers.
