Half a ton of-advertising literature was seized in Wintemute's palatial \ offices. He purchased' 2,000,000 shares in the Goldmui Mining Company at 2%d-, and retailed them for 4s. He issued circulars announcing that ore to the •value of £BOO sterling was taken from the mine, after it had been destroyed by fife.
