WAIONGONA. (From Our Own Correspondents.) Six frosts in succession, with sunny days, ibhie skies, and clear, bracing air—these arc conditions that could hardly fail to produce a general feeling of geniality and exhilaration, and make folk feel glad' to be alive. We have had] our full share of the glorious weather and the sun has beamed on Waiongona as he shines only in Taranaki. Our creamery proceeds apace. Most of the metal for concrete is now on the ground l ,and work will commence imme-

diately. The cottage is already well under way, and work has commenced on the water-race. As the river is now as low as it will be for many months, it will foe necessary to start the erection of the dam without delay. At the meeting of the Debating Society on Monday night an interesting debate tiook place on the subject of "Town v. Country," Mr. Knofflock, seconded by Mr. B. Luke, championing the city, ami Mr. H. Clough, seconded I>y Mr. Medley, the country. The voting resulted in a win for town by three votes. Mr. R. Kilpr. trick then delivered a model "presentation" speech, and Mr. E. Clough gave a model reply to same. The >rest of the evening was devoted to impromptu speeches. A dance is announced for next Friday evening, the proceeds to be in aid of the Children's Excursion Fund.

Much sorry is felt throughout, the district on account of the death of the late Major Atkinson, who was highly esteem* ed and respected as a resident of the district. ( .~. - iMIDHIRST.

The MidhiTst Lodge of Oddfellows 'have decided to hold their popular annual social and dance on Thursday, 18th inst. Mr. W. Mountford is acting as secretary, and, if the weather is at all fine, the function should .be a grand success. On Wednesday, 3rd inst., Messrs Young, Hobbs and Co., of Stratford, held a very successful clearing sale on behalf of Mr. H. Woisin, of York road', who is giving up farming. 'His dairy cows', which were a very fine lot, averaged the satisfactory price of £ll, the top price being £l4 ss. His farm implements and sundries also brought splendid prices. Mr. Woisin, who has made an exchange of his farm with Mr. J. J. Hills, intends residing on the Flint road. All the creameries belonging to the Midhirst (Dairy Co. are in full swing, and last week the company turned out from 18 to 20 boxes of butter.

iMrs. L. How, who has been away for a three months' holiday at Palmerston North, returned home last week. , 'Mr. R. Lilley, of the Midhirst dairy factory, returned home this week from a trip to Auckland and the Main Trunk. Last week a very successful clearing sale was held on account of Mr. S. M. Porritt, of the Salisbury road. Cows realised a very good average. i MMXXLN ROAD. j An interesting wedding was celebrated ■ jit the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A'.l Nisbefc, when their daughter, Miss Enid] Christina, was married to Mr. Frederick, James Riffori. Tie bride was attended by her younger sister, Miss- Daisy tNisbet. I Mr. Richard Rippon was best man. The Rev. Bowie performed the ceremony, and at the subsequent breakfast the usual toasts were honored. After spending a few days in the 'Rangitikei district Mr. and Mrs. Rippon lea-ve for Sydney.
