At the Richmond 1 enquiry Fog Signaller Emmett stated' that he put down two detonators each time the distant signal.was at danger. He was about to put one down when the train loomed out of the fog, and he 'yi*'; had time to jump back. Fireman Burk said that after the accident he told the chairman of the Railway Commissioners that they had the signal all right, but he could not see the home signals on account of the fog.
