(Fron Our Own Correspondent.) At a meeting of the Committee of tW Horticultural Society, held on Wednesday evening, it was decided to hold the first show on Thursday, JJovember 24. Rules were drawn up to toe submitted to a general meeting which takes place on Monday evening. At a meeting of the sub-committee of the North Taranaki Ploughing Association, held on Thursday evening, rules were drawn up for adoption at a general meeting to be held to-day in Mr. Jenkin's mart at 2.30 p.m. The prize list •to be submitted to the same meeting is as follows:—Double-furrow: Ist prize, £5 5s and -pair of opera glasses; 2nd, £2 10s and tobacco pouch; 3rd, £1 10»; a special prizes of a bag of sugar to be given to the best open up or ridge of furrows; £1 10s and half ton coal to the best turn-out in the class. Single 'urrow: Ist prize, £3 and half ton of manure; 2nd, £2 and box of tea; 3rd, £1 ss; a special prize, value 10s, to be given for the ibest ridge of ten furrows. Single furrow, for boys under 18: Ist, £3 and special value 10s 6d; 2nd, £1 10$ and a whip; 3rd, £1; a special prize of a pair of spurs to .be given for the best 10 furrows. Special prizes for best turn-out in both single furrows, of £1 lfls and trophy value 7s 6d, are also to be given. Entrance fees will ibe Ss for double furrows, 4s for single furrows, and 3s for boys' classes. Entries closs on September 3at 5 o'clock. Altogether cash prizes to the value of £25 10s and specials to £7 are to be given. Furtherparticulars will toe advertised as soon a* the suggestions are adopted. The Clifton Rowing Club are now fnisy putting down a staging for the coming season. Mr. W. J. Clare is at work driving the necessary piles.
