GRAND NATIONAL MEETING, SECOND DAY. By Telegraph.— .tress Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Canterbury Jockey Club's Grand National meeting was continued to-day at lliccarton in beautiful weather, the course being in beautiful order. The attendance, though not so large as on the opening day, was very good and speculation was brisk, the tote investments amounting to £19,721, as against £19,846 last year. Nineteen bookmakers were licensed inside and thirty-one outside. The result ol the Grand National Hurdles found one or two of them unable to meet their obligations, There were several falls, but the worst was that sustained by C. O'Neill,' who had his head andshoulder badly danvl aged when Waitapu fell in. the hurdle race. A, Cok.er, rider, til Honest Tom, was disqualified for the rest of the meeting for crossing LoveU in the straight at the finish of the Beaufort Steeplechase. Prophet ran off at the 1 first fence in the Grand National Hurdles, but his rider, C. Cress, continued in the race and for this was suspended for the remainder of the fixture. iWsults:—
