RIFLE SHOOTING.
GUARDS v. OKATO. A team of ten men from the Taranaki Guards journeyed to Okato yesterday and fired a match against the local club. ,The day was a good one for shooting, •and some fine scores were put up. Three possibles were obtained, all at 500 yards i—two by the visitors and one by the 'local team. Private Riddles, with 99, put up the best score, being closely followed by Rifleman Gooding and Private , Johns, with 98. The match resulted in I a win for the Guards by 46 points. The visitors speak very highly,of the hospitality shown them by the local team, and especially of the good fare provided iby Host Lucas. Detailed scores:— TARANiAKI GUARDS. 200 500 600 Tl.
