A CORNER IN SILVER
ACTION OF INDIAN BANKERS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received August 10, 10 p.m. Calcutta, August 10. ! The newspaper Englishman states that a group of native bankers at Bombay and Calcutta are attempting a corner of silver. The statement, however, is unconfirmed. The report stages that these bankers hold half the world's supply, and that the Americans are now holding their stock -back. The financial trouble in China resulted from the failure of many native firms, compelling the Government to nurse silver, but it is doubtful, adds the report, whether they will be able to hold it for a lengthy period.
