MINERS' CONGRESS.
THE HUGE DEATH ROLL. By Cable—Press Association.— Copyright Received August 11,12.30 a.m. Brussels, August 10. The International Miners' Congress resolved that mines inspectors should be selected by the workmen and be paid by the State. They should have the right to inspect at all times. Herr Hansmenn stated that there were 100,000 mine accidents in Germany in 1009, whereof 12,1- ■'•< were fatal' or resulted in grave injuries. Mr. Grace (English M.P.) declared that 140,000 were invalided in Britain, and 10,000 were killed. Nationalisation of mines was unanimously approved.
