STRATFORD-ONGARUE LINE
OOXCEXTRA TI'XG OX TIIB WORK. At a meeting of settlers, held at Whangamomona on the 6th irist., Mr. W. A. McCutchan, chairman of the Whangamomona County Council, moved, and Mr. Gleeson seconded: "That as the large section of Ohura settlers resident in the Tatu and immediately neighbouring districts are moving in the direction of having the railway and Ohura road pushed through from the Stratford and Whangamomona end, and have requested the co-operation of the Whangamomona district in furtherance of that object, this meeting of Whangamomona settlers is unanimously of opinion that the decision of the Minister of Public Works to construct the line from the Stratford end is in the best interests of the entire Ohura district, will prove most satisfactory in freight and passenger results, .and in view of the very extensive developments throughout the "Ohura district, respectfully urges the Minister to recommend the appropriation of a sum of £150,000 this session for the above work on account of its urgency, and hecause it is clear that the returns from the l'ne will produce the revenne desired by the Hen.
