RIFLE SHOOTING.
OKATO RIFLE CLUB. The weather on Saturday morning looked anything but inviting. A .fine drizzling rain set in from the north, and the prospect of the club shooting the concludin.j stage for the Swan trophy did not luok too rosy. About mid-day, however, tfhe weather • cleared, and an excellent afternoon for shooting resulted. Some sixteen members assembled on the range. Competition was keen, and good range scores were made. Riflemen Hart and Penwarden each made 34 at 500 yds, while Riflemen Jenkins and Thomas made 33 at the 200 yds. The trophy was secured by Rifleman Thomas, who, with 64 points, was able to maintain his lead and won by four points. The aggregate scores are:—Thomas 260, Hart, Power, Putt and Grover 256, Humphrey 253, Penwarden and Evans 252, J. Goodin 250, A. Richardson 246, A. Roebuck 242. Next Thursday a team |from the Guards is coming out, and will meet the local team here. The following members have been selected to represent Okato: —Penwarden, Hart, Jenkins, Grover, Thomas, Richardson, C. Putt, Humphrey, Petch, J. Goodin. 'Emergencies: L. Eustace, Roebuck and J. Putt.
