ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
DROWNED AT A FORD. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Chvistchurch, Monday. William Cameron, aged 23, was drowned at Parnassus Ford, Watau River, on Sunday morning. THE AUCKLAND SUICIDE. Auckland, Monday. At the inquest on T. F. Barnes, who comimitted suicide at the Waitemata Hotel, the evidence of his solicitor, Mr. Schnauer, showed that he was' insane and suffered from a delusion that his neighbours had followed him to Auckland and were going to tar and feather him. He was rational on other points, but said on Friday that he had tried to commit suicide, but his courage failed. He refused to give up his revolver. At his solicitor's suggestion he saw the chief detective, but left him at the court, the latter not knowing there was anything serious the matter. The verdict was "Suicide while of unsound mind." A FATAL FALL. Auckland, Last Night. A 1 man named John Lewis Shead, about thirty years of age, wiho -lived in, Parnell, fell while walking home this evening, striking his head against the kerb, and died from the injuries sustained.
