Dr. McCurain, tribal attorney for the Choctaws, testified t that McMurray offered him 25,000 dollars to approve of the deal in Indian lands, which is now being discussed in Congress. NOTHING TO SUBSTANTIATE CHARGES. Received August 8, 10.20 p.m. London, August 8. The Times' Washington correspondent declares that there is nothing to substantiate the charges against Senator Sherman by Senator Curtis. This is evidenced hy the conversation between President Taft, Senator Sherman and himself, wherein all are agreed that the McMurray contracts 'were unconscionable. A cable on Saturday stated. that Senator Gore gave evidence at a Congressional enquiry that the acent of the McMuvrav' syndicate had offered him 50,000 dollars to induce him to withdra v a resolution opposing the sale of thesi lands.
