COURSING CLUB.

THE INITIAL MEETING. There was a very good attendance ai the meeting held at the Town flail laat night for the purpose of forming a courting club in New Plymouth. The convenor, Mr. G. Richardson, presided and informed those present of what be bad done in the matter so far. He had inspected a piece of ground at Glenavon that was just perfect for the purpose— * level as a billiard table, flanked by a natural grandstand, and having a natural home for hares, which could be made • close by a very little extra fencing. He saw no reason why New Plymouth should not have a very strong coursing club, for there were plenty of good "sports" here, and local dogs which competed at Hawera had proved, equal to the best. Of course, he explained, tnk meeting, could do no more than appoint a committee to go into the matter and report to a future meeting. „ A committee was accordingly set up to collect information and canvass lor members, constituted as follows: • Messrs. G. Richardson, T. Richardson, G. Sal way, C. Dixon, P. Doughty, 0. Malam, A. Courtney, W. Boulton, W. Mclndoe', H. Moon, E. Bellringer, and B. Davidson (secretary pro tem). It was decided to hold the Bixl IBfeefr ing on Wednesday, August 17. »• Mr. G. G. Boulton was of opinion thai members would be secured from the Opunake, Okato and W'aitara districts. " The active members' subscription was fixed at 10s lid, and honorary members* subscription at a guinea. The club, when formed, promises to receive very liberal support. Intending members are requested to communicate with the committee.
