(From Our Own Correspondent,)» ■' Waitara, Last Night. iMr; McGregor, wool'class instructor, addressed some dozen intending members on Monday, Much interest Was displayed in?, the lecture, which was appreciated. There should be a fair number attending the classes when they actually begill on: Monday week. . ~ The usual monthly meeting of the school committee was held on Monday evening, Mr. Pearce occupying the chair. The headmaster's report showed tliat owing to unseasonable weather and the prevailing cold, the attendance in the primer classes had been affected. Tlie average for the month was 271.8 out q! a roll of 303. He also called attention to the bad light in the room occupied by Standards II and 111, also to the' fact that the clocks required either renewal or repair. It was resolved to bring both matters under the Board's notice. The Works committee reported that a picket fenee required attention, and it was decided to bring the matter before the Board. The chairman reported having Bad the school, disinfected during the month. Accounts amounting to £7' ; 9st 3d were passed for payinent and meeting adjourned. Messrs. Hatrick and Co. this morning arranged with Mr. W. J. dare to start putting down the piles for his new store. No time is to be lost in having the building erected, and the firm hope to be in the premises within two months. For I the present business will be carried}* on lin the Harbour Board store, witfe an office on the quay.
