The Chief Ranger, in the course of* speech, said that ":%%' million days of sickness were' paid for annually by..,the Order in the United Kingdom. The proposed IState insurance against. sickness I 'and invalidity; would only be successful if; friendly societies and the State were mutually satisfied that the societies would only accept the responsibility of administration if the rights of selfmanagement were continued. He was glad that.Mr. Lloyd-George was considering the question of exempting friendly societies' benefits when estimating the old age pensions incomes.
