HUNTING.

The North Taranaki Hunt met at Mr. Topliss's, Waihi, on Thursday, in perfect weather for hunting. About siity members were present. Mr. Topliss entertained the Hunt at a very generous luncheon, and then the Hunt threw oil shortly after I p.m. The a,fternooiri: sport opened with an excellent run over about two miles of splendid country, a kill being registered at the end of the run. A great amount of trouble had been taken in sparring the fences, every fence for miles around being sparred in an excellent manner. The jumping was consequently very good. Throughout, UKafternoon the hounds kept going. Some really fine runs were provided anu four kills were made. The afternoon was wound up with an impromptj steeplechase from the beach, over eight or ten fences, to M". Topliss's homestead, where thj Hun* were entertained at afternoon tea. The meets still to be - held by the Hunt are as follow: —Augjjt at Mr. H. Purdie's, Waitara Road; August 11, at the Kennels, Bell Block; August 18, at Mr. G. Foreman's, Tikorangi; August 25, at Mr. F. Salway's, Bell Block. It is hoped that the members of the Egmont-Wanganui Hunt will be able to accept the North Taranaki Hunt's invitation to the meet at the Ivennela on August 11.. A Saturday by-meet will be arranged, if possible, at Mr. F. J. Morris's property, Oakura. _ \ A meeting of the Hunt Committee is to be held to-day to make further arrangements for the Hunt's race meeting and ball on September 1.
