Andrew Riddle, aged forty-eight, married, died in the hospital this (morning from injuries received through a fall in Dimocks' bacon factory, Ngahauranga. He slipped while oiling an overhead shaft, and fell head first downwards on to the concrete floor, fracturing his skull, breaking an am and several ribs. SUPPOSED SUICIDE. Invercargill, Last Night. 'Laurence Forde, farmer of Uroper's Bu»h, was found dead in a paddock. A bottle of strychnine was discovered in his pocket. . . FERRYMAN'S SUICIDE. lnvercargill, Last Night. ■ Jolm Hunter, ferryman of Riverton, was suffering from mental iderangeanent, and strangled himself in the hospital early this morning. FATAL STEEPLECHASE. Christchurch, Last Night. When competing in the Open Steeplechase at Rangiora yesterday, Ivan came to grief, and seriously injured 1 his rider. R. Swinburn, the unfortunate 'horseman, had one of his ears torn off, and had his head i badly damaged. He was removed to a private hospital, but died to-day.
