Griffiths and Co., New Plymouth, are in receipt of the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills anl Sparrow, dated June 17th:— The weather, has been fine and sunny, and generally favorable for the production of butter in the United-Kingdom," although the season is somewhat late. Danish:. The: quotation is unchanged, although in some quarters a reduction was expected. Siberian: Arrivals this week amount to about,' 12,000 casks. The quality ot the butter is very mixed, and there is hardly any new grass quality offering. Buyers are taking on this description very slowly at present, and we tear prices wil. : have to coime somewhat lower in order to bring About the brisk demand that will be necessary to clear the quantities advised. French: There is a good consumptive demand, but up to the present very little storing has been done, as there is hardly any surplus butter offering, Australian: The. s.s. Cufic and s.s. Omrah have discharged their butter this week in good order, and we are pleased to be able to report that the quality is far better than has been the cas,e for some few weeks, and as there is no "apple taint," the butters are giving satisfaction. Choicest quality, both salted and unsaltcd, has met with a good | demand, but secondaa-y butters have to i compete with Siberian, •■which is being pressed for sale at rather jow rates. New Zealand: Arrivals to date have been well cleared, and the butter has mostly gone into consumption, .very little, if any, having been stored. The Turakina is due to-night, and we expect
butters will meet with a good demand. Cheese.—-Canadian: The trade in new cheese is stall very slow, and really it is not to be wondered at when one looks at these alongside New Zealand, as the latter show very much better value. •New Zealand: Trade has continued good, the lower prices that are now ruling' and the favorable weather seem to have put more life into the consumption.
