INGLEWOOD NEWS

(From Our Own Correspondent. ) A meeting of householders convened for the purpose of discussing "ways and means" of providing the school witn a I piano was only sparsely attended. In | fact the householders were missing, only I the committee and those connected with J the school putting in an appearance. i Mr. Whitehead occupied the chair. Those ! present formed a committee to canvass [ the district before a further meeting is I held. It is a pity that better support I is not forthcoming for so deserving a I cause. I Mrs. A. H. Clark was buried yesterI day, the ceremony being performed by i the Revs. Sharp and Gatman, of the Primitive Methodist denomination. As Mr. Clark was a member of both the j Foresters' and Druids' lodges, a large | number of mourners followed the corpse. Mr. E. Munro, charged with having i forged a cheque on the Bank of New Zealand, wa9 committed to the Supreme Court, Wellington, for sentence by Messrs. W, J. Winfield and D. Godd, J's.P., to-day. The Druids' dance, held last night, was a great success, as usual. There was a large attendance, the fairer sex being slightly in the majority. Messrs. Spurdie (piano) and Vandyke (violin) supplied excellent music, and the floor being in good order the dancing was enjoyable. Supper was handed round at midnight, and was very acceptable. Mr. Geo. Beere acted as M.C. . "Professional" styles are being much , practised on the golf links at present, in I consequence of the recent visit of a ] coach. The ladder system proposed for I the Club is a long time coming, and ' members still jog along in the same old war. However, the standard of play is improving, and so no cause for com- | plaint can be found.
