A TERRIBLE TRAGEDY.
MURDERING A WHOLE FAMILY. A BELATED CONFESSION. By Cable—Press Association.—Copyright Paris, July 22. Dourreau, a ragpicker at Tours, has confessed to the murder of five children of a farmer named Brierre, near Charters, in 1900. Brierre was sentenced to death for the crime, but the sentence was commuted. Brierre died recently protesting his innocence. A DREADFUL STORY. Paris, July 22. Bourreau states that he went to the farm begging. He received bread and slept in a barn. Early in the morning ■he stabbed four of the sleeping children and killed a fifth with an axe. After a fierce struggle he stabbed Brierre and decamped. Before confessing, Bourreau tried suicide, but only inflicted a bullet wound in the arm.
