James Holland', a prominent labor unionist, is resigning his membership to forestall the action of the committee enquiring into his public speech in April, wherein he counselled all employees guilty of'bribery and similar offences to *keep quiet, because the "squealer" was worse than the man taking a bribe. •A current investigation into schools affairs in 'New Jersey shows that some places have a regular scale of bribes for various appointments, and similar practices are suspected in 'New York.
