By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received July 23, 0.30 a.m. Ottawa, July 22. The passenger service from Montreal has been resumed, and freight is beginning to move. Workshops reopen on Monday.

A STRIKE ENDED

London, July 21. The North-Eastern Railway strike has been settled, and work is being resumed. COMPANY'S TERMS ACCEPTED. SHUNTER'S POSITION SECURE. Received July 23, 0.30 a.m. London, July 22. The North-Eastern Railway men have accepted the company's terms, including the promise of an enquiry; also a proviso that the head shunter shall return to the position allotted him until the grievance is investigated, or in the event of his remaining idle his wages will be paid until the matter is settled. The strikers will not be penalised. The strike has made idle 30.000 miners, 5000 furnacemen, and 7000 ironstone workers. The settlement is largely due to the efforts of the officials of the Amalgamated Railwaymen's Association. Labor members of the House of Commmons are delighted. AN ILLEGAL STRIKE. London, July 21. The secretary of the Amalgamated Society of Railwaymen declares that the strike is not recognised because it is illegal.

WITHDRAWING FROM ARBITRATION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Friday. The Westport-Stockton Miners' Union decided, on a ballot, by 122 votes to u3, to withdraw from the Arbitration Court. THE SHEARERS' TROUBLE. Christchurch, Last Night. The following message was sent to the Minister for Labor and Mr. T. E. Taylor by Mr. Laracy, secretary of the Shearers' Union, to-night, as a result of an interview with Mr. Triggs: "Shearers' Union suggests three Concilition Commissioners submit to the Arbitration Court a joint report on shearing rates now paid in the Dominion. This should avert impending complications."
