THE WAR VETERANS. By Telegraph.—Pres* Association. Napic". Last Night. A meeting of veterans to-night passed the following resolution: '"That this meeting of veterans, on behalf of those of the several forces of the Dominion who took part in the war in the early days of the colony, desires to urge for the serious consideration of the Government that a military pension be granted to all veterans who are in possession of the New Zealand war medal, in consideration of their services to the country."
WESTPORT HARBOR BOARD. Westport, Last Night. At a representative meeting of the Westport Chamber of Commerce this afternoon it was decided to urge the Government to appoint Mr. F. F. Munro to the Westport Harbor Board, on which there are at present three vacancies. The Chamber also discussed a letter received from Furness and Co., shipbuilders, England, to form a company to purchase a local steamer or steamers. It was decided to ascertain from the State Mines Department and the Stockton Company whether they would, m the event of a steamer being purchased or chartered, supply coal cargoes. THE UNEMPLOYED. Dunedin, Yesterday. A street meeting of unemployed resolved to instruct the committee previously formed to advise the authorities to interview the City Council to-night Another resolution urged the Government to grant the same railway concessions to human beings wanting to work to stave off the pangs of hunger as they do with squatters starving' sheep. About a hundred unemployed attended the meeting.
