Spencer, is announced in our advertising columns to lectiire this (Tuesday) evening in the Presbyterian Sunday School on the Society's operations during the j'ear 1009. The lecture will begin at half-past seven, and is free. A collection will be take"n up in aid of the funds of the Society. The new tailor-made sac suits at the Melbourne represent a complete assemblage of all the new weaves and patterna that have been approved by the foremost style creators of Bond-street, London. Those exclusive fabrics that will enable correct followers of fashion to conform' to real utra style requirements, at prices that are exceedingly modest. White and Sons have a large number of tempting bargains at their sale this week. To mention only two or three, there arc; many thousands of yards of white embroideries at greatly reduced rates, children's velvet dresses and coats at less than half-price, sample underwear for ladies, and boys' suits, and all at prices the public appreciate.—Advt. Before buying ready-to-wear goods, we would advise you to look through our stock. We have a lot of good things which we must quit before stock-taking. Price will be no object—if you will only come round and see what the Busy Cash Drapery Store in King Street have to •ffer you. The sale which commenced yesterday at Ambury Bros.' promises to be the j best they have ever held. A solid ! reduction of three and fourpence in the i pound off every line in the house should attract a large crowd. There will be lots of costumes, skirts, millinery, coats, men's macs, and overcoats, and odd lines in every department at half-price. THE POULTRY SHOW. The arrangements in connection with the Taranaki Poultry, Pigeon, and Canary Society's show are nearly eom--1 plete. Work was started in the Drill Hall on Saturday, under the direction of the secretary. The poultry section, which exceeds that of last year, will be situated in the north end of the building. The classes are very heavy in some breeds, flame, for instance, Ins- 27 entries, Orpingtons 30, Wyandottes 50, Lesrhorns 55; while bantams have over 50 \ in eight classes, the new Pekin bantams being exceptional favorites with all exhibitors. This bird is a very showv customer, and thinks a great deal of himself. Homer pigeons total 100 birds, while the fancy pigeons are fairly strong, all from outside Taranaki, no local birds showing this year in this class. The school section will take up a large space, and some excellent work has come to hand from all the schools in Taranaki. The cooking classes are far and away more extensive than any shown in New Plymouth before. The' children's pets are both numerous and varied. It should be particularly noted that children will be admitted to the show on Wednesday, from two till five o'clock, for threepence. The great baby show, with over fifty entries, will take place on Thursday from one o'clock till five o'clock.
