Mr. C. Cropper, of Wcstralia, has been* appointed -secretory of the Australian tlockey Club.—Cable. Mr. H. W. Campbell, engineer of the Waimarino County Council, has been appointed engineer of the Kiwitea County Council. At the animal meeting of the Taranaki .lockey Club last night it was decided to forward a letter of condolence to Mrs. T. S. MeGuinness, widow of the late Mr. T. S. MeGuinness, for many years an energetic and popular member of the I'll! I). Mr. Julius Knight bade farewell to the Sydney public on oth July, after concluding a long and successful engagement as a leading actor under the Williamson management, and .after appearing in West Australia and Melbourne will return to England. Mr. J. Mulvey, of Invercargill, was I unanimously elected president of the Post and Telegraph Officers' Association, and Mr. W. MeKinnon, of Waihi, vicepresident. Mr. A. Mill, who declined reelection to the presidency, was heartily thanked for his services to the association during his two years' term of office.. The Hawera Hospital Board has decided to recommend to the Government the appointment of Dr. Thompson, of I Hawera, to the position of Hospital Superintendent, vice Dr. Mac Gibbon. Under the Hospitals Act the Hospital Department have a certain time in which to consider the Hospital Board's recommendation.

The resignation of Mr. Colvin, M.P., as a member of the Westport Harbor Board, a position he lias held for twentythree years, was received with regret last night, states a Press message. As there are two other vacancies on the Board, caused by the deaths of the Hon. Mr. Reeves and Mr. J. Suisted, the Board has now a bare quorum. It is anticipated fresh appointments will be made this week. Mr. Howard Hadley has been appointed to conduct the practical examinations in music in New Zealand this year held under the auspices of the Associated Board of the R.A.M. and R.C.M., London. As there are some two thousand candidates to be examined, Mr. Hadley will be in the Dominion for about four months. This is Mr. Hadlcy'a first visit to New Zealand, but he has conducted examinations in England and Australia. He is due in Auckland in August, and is expected to reach Wellington in October. A Wellington Press message states that Mr. R. Mill, accountant in the Bank of New Zealand, is to be transferred to London to be associated there with the head of the London office. He will go in about a month. This engagement of a New Zealander for duty in London it a new departure, with the object of having at the London end an officer with up-to-date" knowledge of New Zealand conditions. Mr. Mill joined the Bank in Dunedin, where he was a sub-account-ant. A few months ago he was transferred to Wellington.
