COMEDIES AT ST. MARY'S HALL. |
On Thursday evening next, at St. Mary's Hall, the public will have an opportunity of witnessing two of the brightest and funniest comedies yet produced in New Plymouth by local amateurs. The Irish doctor's love-making methods are extremely funny, as pourtrayed by Mr. Easther, while the contents of the Count's mantelsack, valued at 2000 francs (by himself only), would offend the sight cf the lowliest of "old clo " men. Come and see them, and iudge for yourselves. You will also have an opportunity of learning a new recipe for "hare soup," and a new card game, invented by the Count. Besides these two comedies, which are a full evening's entertainment in themselves, several musical items will be given by the leading musicians of the town, including Miss Warren and Miss Clarice Buckman. The latter has, by special request, kindly consented to again sing that delightful Maori song of Hill's, "Waiata Poi," and all those who missed the opportunity of hearing Miss Buckman a fortnight ago, should make a special effort to come on Thursday next, as it will probably be this young lady's last appearance before the New Plymouth public for some considerable time. And don't forget the object. It must appeal to all lovers of music, for, as mentioned before, a good house will ensure the more successful staging and costuming of "Dorotht," which is in act-, ive rehearsal at present by the local! Operatic Society..
