Dune lin, Last Night. The charges arising mt of last Saturday night's disturban ■ came before .Mr. Bartholomew in the Jity Police Court to-day. The first case palled on was that, again>t Charles Graham, who was charged with assaulting Sergeant Eccles and Constable Sweeney, and also with assaulting Constable Fox. Sub-Inspector Phair said he did not propose to call any evidence. After going into the history of the disturb-

ance, he said the constables, on thinking the matter over afterwards, had some doubt in their minds as to whether they had really re-arrested the right man, and consequently they did not feel justified in going further with the matter.

The charges against Graham were ac cordingly withdrawn, the Magistrate remarking he had been the victim of circumstances.

John Wilson was convicted on a charge of drunkenness, using obscene language, and resisting Constable Sweeney; and David Wilson was charged with obstructing Constable Sweeney while in the execution of his duty, with using obscene language, with assaulting Constable Sweeney, and with resisting Sergeant Eccles. John Wilson was fined ss, or 24 hours' imprisonment, for drunkenness, and sentenced to one month's imprisonment for obscene language, and two months for resisting, the sentences to be concurrent. David Wilson was sentenced to one month's imprisonment for obscene language, and to two months' on each of the other charges, the sentences to lie concurrent.

Walter Rae Spence was charged with inciting people to assault the police, and ■with being guilty of disorderly behaviour while drunk. This case was dismissed.
