ALTERATION. OF THE MOISTURE STANDARD.

Members of the Federal Parliament representing dairying districts of the Commonwealth interviewed Mr. Tudor and protested against the proposed alteration of the moisture standard of butter and Government grading. Mr. Tudor, to show how necessary the action was to maintain the reputation of Australian butter in the English, market, stated that of 47G samples of Victorian butter taken during the 1908-9 season 03 per cent, contained over 14 per cent, of moisture. In the whole of 1130 samples taken in the 1909 season the percentage of such samples had fallen to 47.
