New Zealand Loan and Mercantile debentures £95. The wool sales opened remarkably briskly. Merinos and greasy crossbreds were practically unchanged. HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. ' By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. Following is the High Commissioner's wool cable, dated July 12:—The wool sales commenced with good competition. Home and Continental buyers bought freely, so trade was good. American buyers are holding off. Holders are firm on account of the moderate supply. There were 89,500 bales of New Zealand wool catalogued. Merinos and fine crossbreds of all grades are selling at about the same as closing rates of last sales. Medium and coarse crossbreds about a farthing lower. Closing rates for the May sales, as cabled by the High Commissioner, were as follows:—Superior merinos Is Id to Is 3y 2 d, medium merinos 10y 8 d to Is O'/gd, inferior merinos 8d to 10d, fine crossbreds Is iy g d to Is 4d, medium crossbreds lid to Is Id, coarse crossbreds fii/gd to ioy 3 d.
