STRATFORD DAY BY DAY.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) Stratford, Last Night. Mr. & Eowsfll tois disposed of his property on the Pembroke Voad to Mr. W. V. Wilson. I hear that Mr. Rowson proposes taking up a farm at Waitui. The Foresters held an assembly at their hall last night. There was a iarge attendance, and the function passed off very successfully. Mr. Armstrong, the District Traffic Manager of Railways, is visiting Stratford to-morrow, and will take advantage of the opportunity to confer with the executive of the local Chamber of Commerce rewarding requests which have been recently submitted to him on various matters.
The Stratford Electrical Supplj Company wrote to the Borough Council, the letter being read at last night's meeting, that it was prepared to "increase its plant provided the Council would guarantee to take over the company's undertaking at valuation should the borough desire to supply its own electricity at any time after*the expiration of the deed of concession. The letter was referred to the Electric Light Committee. The inspector was reported to the Borough Council by one of the councillors for refusing, in an insolent manner, to go and inspect the vehicles when left on the streets. After some discussion it was decided that the inspector he called upon to give an explanation to the Council to-night. The Borough Council has given the A. and P. Association permission to take a branch water-pipe from a main to be laid across the railway line on Flint road to their grounds, the charge for three years to be at the rate of £1 per annum. The question of a weighbridge came before the Borough Council at their meeting last night, and the Works Committee was authorised to Report on the putting in order and erection of the weighbridge.
