DUKE NEiARLY DROWNED. .Received July 11, 10.50 p.m. London, July 11
The Duke of Westminster's launch was 'some distance behind the hydroplane. He was accompanied by Robins, representing the motor company, and two mechanics. They clung to the upturned hydroplane, but the Duke of Westminster, struggling under the weight of a big mackintosh, drifted seaward for fifty yards, and sank once. Robins, noticing his distress, swam to him and was just nearing the Duke when the latter sank again. He was pulled to the surface, and both were taken aboard the launch. The Duke was unconscious, and, it was only after artificial respiration had been tried for some time that he recovered. He returned to London not much the worse for his thrilling narrow escape. .
