The Vatican has assured the Netherlands Borromes that the encyclical cabled on June 6 was in no wise intended to apply to the Prince of Orange and Nassau, or Queen Wilhelmina's non-Catholic subjects or their ancestors. "A Papal encyclical, containing a severe Enunciation of Protestant reformers and their influence in modern times, led to a vehement protest in Germany. It •was noticed in the Diet, and an evenfeelical mass meeting of protest is to he held in Berlin on the 13th."
