Mr. Robt. McNab, who is t» give a lecture on the life of Captain Cook tomorrow evening, arrives here to-morrow morning. Lady Islington left Plymouth on Saturday, states a cable from London. Mr. G. C. Foster, a well-known guard on trains running on this coast, and who for the past seven years resided in Wanganuui, has been transferred toAuckland.

Mr. B. Bunbuury, who died at New Plymouth last week, was a noted character in his way. He was very well educated, being an "honors" man of Cambridge or Oxford, and well connected, two of his brothers occupying high positions in England. He resided in South Taranaki for some years, and then came on to New Plymouth. Twenty-five years ago Mr. fiobert Tate, of Waitara, and Mr. W. Adatnson of Ilawera, were members of the Tarranaki representative team which played a well-remembered game in Wellington. Since their football days they had not met until Thursday, when both were in New (Plymouth watching the Star and Clifton match. They are as keen on th» game as ever, and Mr. Adamson was pleased to see a good combination under Mr. Tate's charge.—Waitara Mail.
