FATALITY AT THE HARBOR.

CORPSE FLOATING UNDER THI-J I WHARF. NOT YET IDENTIFIED. Yesterday morning Mr. William llu-c, telegraphist, noticed the body of a man floating under the wharf at Moturoa. I At the time only the head and shoulders, 1 were visible. The body was floating face downwards. One of the sailors <ll the Corinha brought the body ashore, and the police were summoned. Constables O'Neill and Whitehou-e took ilic j corpse to the morgue for identification. >j There was nothing in the clothing—the man was fully dressed—to give any ciue to his identity, a pipe and tobacco and one or two papers being his sole possessions. It was noticed that there were two dark bruises on the forehead. A post morten examination will bo held this morning.

It was stated at Moturoa yesterday that the Himitangi's second mat;/ was missing when the steamer was ready to take her departure on Saturday night, and that although the steamer was kept back there was no sign of him, and the vessel left for Westport without him. Sergeant Haddrell telegraphed yesterday to Westport. to inform the police there of this report, so that they may make the necessary enquiries when the steamer arrives.
