WILD BEASTS ESCAPE.
EXCITEMENT IN A NEW SOUTH WALES TOWN. RECAPTURED WITHOUT SERIOUS DAMAGE. By Cable—Press Associations-Copyright Received Julv 8, 9.25 p.m. Sydney, Last Night. "While a performance of Wirth's circus was in progress at Murnirundi, a lion, two lionesses, and two wolves escaped. The wolves and one of the lionesses were captured before thej got clear of the circus grounds, not, however, before the lioness had attacked and injured a pony. The circus hands and a number of residents went in chase after the others, and after a long search they found the lion in a henhouse. The cage, drawn by an elephant, was sent to the place, and the lion was recaged. * The other lioness was discovered prowling about the main street, where she was°surrounded.\ A cage was brought and the lioness was driven in. There was much excitement in • the township while the chase was in progress, though the circus audience remained quiet. The lions mauled several horses, almost killing one.
