POULTRY SOCIETY.

AXNUAL SHOW. Entries for all sections for the Poultry Society are pouring in from all directions, but owing' to a misunderstanding the closing of eatries has been extended till Wednesday next, as tfoere are a great many poultry fancier* entering birds at Hawera, to be judged that day. The secretary (Mr. Hobbs) will be at Hawera to receive entries from those showing there. The entries received are very varied, and a large class of game birds and game baatams are coming forward. Fancy pigeons are coming from Wanganui and Dannevirke, Black Orpingtons will be a strong section; so will Brown and White Leghorns. Wyandottes are fairly strong, ducks are fair, and homer .pigeons are very strong. Some keen competition will take place with these bird* This will be the time for some years that fancy pigeons will be shown from outside districts, there being teams from five different lofte. The baby section is creating a great deal of interest, and numerous enquiries are being received from all over Taranaki, and entries to the number of about twelve have been received from Opunake, Omata, Midhurst, Tarata, lnglewood, Waitara aad New Plymouth. Mothers should note that all the secretary wants is the name in full, address and age, and the babies to be at the Drill Hall at 1 pjn. on Thursday, July 21. Children's petn section should prove one of the chief attractions, as entries have come from Wa7iganui, Omata, Opunake and all places down the line, and the committee will have to make arrangements for at least fifty entries for dogs, cats, parrots, guinea pigs, monkeys, opossums.. bantams, lambs, etc. The home industries classes will be well represented if the ladies will only take an interest m the cooking competitions, and at is not much to ask them to cook a Swiss roll, jam sandwich, a few scones, and get a 251b. bag of flour as a prize. The Primary School work is receiving great attention from all choolma&ters and mistresses in the district; lafge entries are coming from Omata, Opunake, Bell Block, lnglewood and Tariki for mapping, drawing and writing, and the technical school cookery entries will reach ■nearly 200 entries. The secretary wishes it to'be thoroughly understood that on no account will entries be received after Wednesday next, as he has over a dozen sections to write up and prepare for the judges for the show to be held on Wednesday and Thursday. July 20 and 21, so send your entries along todav. You may just as well have an interest in the'show, as everybody else hn.s.
